Since the fifties surfboards have been made from basically the
same materials, polyurethane foam and polyester resin soaked
fibreglass.
The continued quest for lightness has resulted in a weaker product.
Although nothing can match the beauty of a custom shaped, hand
crafted surfboard, the last few years have seen the emergence
of a new way of making boards.
The epoxy foam sandwich/styrofoam technology has been around
in the windsurfing market since the eighties but has recently
gained acceptance in surfboards with the availability of shapes
from the world’s most respected craftsmen.
These boards are around 10% lighter than conventional materials
offering increased buoyancy and sensitivity. They are also considerably
stronger, particularly noticeable is the reduced deck compression.
We are the UK’s premier dealer for
Surftech
Tuflite epoxy surfboards.
